NFC review card not working

Work out whether the issue is the phone, the NFC chip or the destination link with this short troubleshooting sequence.

Check whether the link works without the card

Open the intended review URL directly in a browser. If it opens the wrong business or fails to load, correct the destination before changing the card. For a client setup, ask the business to confirm the review link from its own Google Business Profile.

If the page loads but the customer cannot leave a review, check whether they are signed into a Google Account. A sign-in requirement is separate from the NFC chip.

Read the card in NFC Tools

Use the Read function in NFC Tools to check whether the phone can detect the chip and whether a URL record is present. Keep the phone still near the card until it is read. Locate the phone’s NFC reader using its manufacturer’s instructions; the reader is not in the same place on every model.

  • No chip detected: check the phone supports NFC and that NFC is enabled where required. Try another compatible phone.
  • Chip detected but no URL: write a URL record, confirm success and test again outside the writing app.
  • URL present but incorrect: replace it with the verified destination, provided the card remains writable.

Write a short URL record

In NFC Tools, choose Write, add a URL / URI record, paste the destination, and use Write. Hold the reader near the card until the operation completes. Close the writing app and test the normal customer tap afterwards.

Avoid keeping multiple old URL records when you intend to share one destination. The English NTAG213 cards listed by TapStand Supply have 144 bytes of user memory; a very long URL plus additional records may not fit. Use the business’s short review link when available.

Test the placement and a second phone

Try the card away from metal and other NFC tags, move the reader slowly around the tap area, and test with a second compatible phone. These checks help distinguish a placement or phone issue from a card issue.

A locked or password-protected chip may be readable but refuse a rewrite. Do not permanently lock a card until its destination is final. If the app reports that the tag is permanently locked, repeatedly trying to write the same tag will not make it writable.

What to send when asking for help

Note the phone model, the NFC Tools Read result, any error message, whether the link works in a browser, and whether a second phone can read the card. Include your order reference when contacting the seller. Do not include account passwords or one-time sign-in codes.

If your card also has a printed QR code, test that separately. A working QR code confirms its printed destination works; it does not confirm that the NFC chip contains the same link.
